About the Integrated Studies Program

The Integrated Studies program is specially designed for students who want a rich immersion experience on a Spanish campus. The program integrates thoughtful synthesis of homestays, study visits, language exchanges, volunteer, and other cultural opportunities into the curriculum, so that you may more fully integrate into the catalan culture.

 


Program Highlights

The goal of the Integrated Studies Program is to guide you to live as a member of catalan culture, while gaining a profound understanding of your surroundings. Courses designed for international students learning Spanish and access to abundant cultural resources, workshops, and activities allow you to more fully integrate into campus life at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. A special Spanish Studies Abroad designed course in cultural immersion helps you to process your study abroad experience.Through this coursework, homestays with native families, and multiple cross-cultural opportunities, students will find Spanish Studies Abroad in Barcelona to be a highly immersive study abroad experience.

  • Intensive Language Period, designed to prepare you for life and study at Universitat Pompeu Fabra
  • Guided direct enrollment ~ take courses alongside other local students

    Enhance your study abroad program in Barcelona with an internship at a local business or organization. This is not a stand-alone program.

    Internship Pre-Requisites: 
    • Offered only in the 3rd quarter (April-June)
    • Must be enrolled first at UPF in the 2nd quarter (January-March)
    • 4 semesters of college Spanish or the equivalent (UPF recommends 5 semesters)
    • 3.3 GPA Overall

Integrated Requirements: 

  •     2 courses of advanced college-level Spanish or the equivalent, or heritage speaker
  •     Class standing junior or senior during program
  •     3.0 GPA overall; no exceptions
  •     3.0 GPA in Spanish Coursework

Financial Information

This is considered a 3rd Party Provider program. You will continue to pay Butler University tuition for your semester abroad, instead of the tuition cost listed on the provider's website. The Butler University CGE will receive the bill for this program on your behalf, will pay it, and will pass on these expenses in your Butler student account, including Butler tuition (instead of the tuition listed on the program’s page) and any non-tuition charges, like housing, health insurance, etc. Additionally, you will receive 100% of your federal financial aid and 50% of your Butler University institutional aid and scholarships for your semester abroad.

Additional provider fees may include: application fee, housing deposit, health insurance, etc.

**These above-stated policies may be different for tuition remission, tuition exchange, Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, and petition program students. Please check with Financial Aid for more information.**

Application Instructions

As a Butler University student, you will simultaneously apply directly with the provider for this program by their listed deadline, as well as complete this secondary application with the Center for Global Education (CGE) for your top-choice program. You can start the CGE’s application by clicking "Apply Now" above. Should you apply for/get into another program that you’d prefer, just let the CGE know and they’ll switch your completed application into the correct program.

All pre-decision materials must be completed in this online application system by the deadline listed on this application.
