International Studies Program in English - Alicante, Spain

Alicante
Alicante, the jewel of the Costa Blanca, is a charming harbor city that is both tranquil in its coastal climate and vibrant with modern Spanish life. The culture, architecture, language, and people have all been shaped by the region's rich history of sea merchants and conquerors.

International Studies Program
Experience Alicante, Spain with the International Studies Program in English. This program offers students with little or no previous background in Spanish, the opportunity to take courses in English and Spanish at a local Spanish university. With the support of a Resident Director, students enroll in a variety of content courses, specially designed for international students. The program includes numerous cultural activities, day trips, and excursions.

Program Goals:

The goal of the International Studies Program in English is to allow you to pursue your individual academic interests while guiding you to live as a member of your host community. You benefit from an initial intensive language & culture period that prepares you for the challenges of studying in a foreign university, followed by continued support through access to abundant cultural resources, workshops, and activities that allow you to more fully integrate into campus life at Universidad de Alicante. In Alicante, Spanish Studies Abroad also runs Spanish-language focused programs for intermediate to upper-advanced levels.

Through university coursework, homestays with native families, and multiple cross-cultural opportunities, students will find Spanish Studies Abroad in Alicante to be a highly immersive and integrated study abroad experience.

Prerequisite: 

  • No previous Spanish coursework required
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA overall

Financial Information

This is considered a 3rd Party Provider program. You will continue to pay Butler University tuition for your semester abroad, instead of the tuition cost listed on the provider's website. The Butler University CGE will receive the bill for this program on your behalf, will pay it, and will pass on these expenses in your Butler student account, including Butler tuition (instead of the tuition listed on the program’s page) and any non-tuition charges, like housing, health insurance, etc. Additionally, you will receive 100% of your federal financial aid and 50% of your Butler University institutional aid and scholarships for your semester abroad.

Additional provider fees may include: application fee, housing deposit, health insurance, etc.

**These above-stated policies may be different for tuition remission, tuition exchange, Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, and petition program students. Please check with Financial Aid for more information.**

Application Instructions

As a Butler University student, you will simultaneously apply directly with the provider for this program by their listed deadline, as well as complete this secondary application with the Center for Global Education (CGE) for your top-choice program. You can start the CGE’s application by clicking "Apply Now" above. Should you apply for/get into another program that you’d prefer, just let the CGE know and they’ll switch your completed application into the correct program.
